How Does Kybella Work?
Kybella works by using a substance your body naturally produces, called deoxycholic acid, to help break down fat. When it’s injected under the chin, it targets the fat cells, breaks them apart, and your body naturally clears them out over time.
Those fat cells don’t grow back once they’re gone. Treatments are usually done about every 4 to 6 weeks. You might need a few sessions (up to 6), but most start to see visible changes after two to four. It’s a gradual process, but that’s also what makes the results look more natural.
Who Is a Candidate for Kybella Treatment?
Kybella is a good option for adults who are bothered by fullness under their chin and want to avoid surgery. It works best if your skin still has some firmness, since it doesn’t tighten loose skin. You don’t need to be perfect — just in general good health.
It’s not the right choice if you have an active infection, very loose skin, or specific medical issues. During your consultation, your provider will examine your chin area and review your health history to ensure it’s a safe fit.
Kybella Recovery and Results
Kybella fat-dissolving injections recovery is usually easy for most people. You’ll probably need to rest the first day or two, and it’s normal to see some swelling, bruising, or tenderness, especially during the first week. The area under your chin might look fuller for a bit, usually up to two weeks, sometimes longer. That just means the treatment is taking effect and your body is breaking down the fat.
You won’t see instant changes, but most people notice a difference after four to six weeks. It usually takes at least a few Kybella injection sessions to get the best results. Once the fat cells are gone, they don’t come back – so if your weight stays steady, the results can stick around for a long time.
